"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."
-Jesus (Matthew 11:28-29) What if you used part of your spring break to intentionally be refreshed? UMN Navs has planned a trip to the north woods of Minnesota explicitly for that purpose. We'll aim to unplug from our normal rhythms of life, and simply enjoy being refreshed - in God, in community, and in creation. Unlike your typical Christian conference/retreat, the schedule will be quite relaxed. We'll have extended personal times with God, lots of time in encouraging community, and times of hiking and skiing (note: all levels of skiing ability will be represented). If you'd like to come, but not ski, that is an option too. Since this trip is only until Tuesday (3/18), you'll get plenty of time to use the rest of spring break to do as you please - to go home, work, do homework, etc! Detail Breakdown
When: 7pm Friday, March 14 -- 1pm Tuesday, March 18 We will hang out on Friday evening in Minneapolis on the UMN campus. We'll stay in several homes/apartments of students. Then, we'll carpool Saturday morning, arriving in Duluth for lunch. We'll also go on a hike on the North Shore (weather permitting). We'll settle into our condos on Saturday afternoon, and hang out Saturday evening. Sunday and Monday will be ski days at Lutsen (during 9:30am - 4:00pm). The evenings will be spent relaxing together. We'll stay three nights in the condos, returning on Tuesday in the early afternoon. Where: Lutsen Mountains -- Lutsen, MN About Lutsen, from their website: The ancient Sawtooth Mountains rise 1088 feet above the coast of Lake Superior-topography unlike any other Midwest locale. And that brings more of what you want in a ski trip - the highest mountains, the most snow, and the breathtaking beauty of the North Shore. Lutsen offers 95 sweeping runs over four mountains with a lift-serviced vertical rise more than double that of other regional resorts. Lodging: Superior Ridge Condos (near Lutsen) Our group will be staying in several two-bedroom condos that sleep 8 people per unit. We'll also have a conference room reserved for us for our stay. We'll spend three of our four nights here (Sat-Mon nights). Cost: $200 for skiers, $125 for non skiers This is a fantastic deal that includes three nights lodging in a condo, two lift tickets to Lutsen, and a majority of your food. We're getting great group rates on lift tickets and lodging. Normally lift tickets alone would be $72 per day! Lunches will be on your own (as we travel, or at the ski resort -- or you can use extra breakfast food to save $). Ski/snowboard rentals are extra for you (bring or borrow equipment if you are able to!). Packing List: Bible, journal/notebook, pen, toiletries, towel, warm clothes, ski/snowboard gear, water bottle, board games, health insurance card |
